Analysing the Game

______________
The best way to analyse the structure of the game is by playing it. By playing the game, this would indicate to me areas of flaw, which I may want to change when I design my final piece.

I played the game a few times. The first time I played it was purely by reading the instructions supplied with the game and using my own knowledge to figure out how things worked in the game. There was slight confusion to how the game was played, as there was little instruction supplied. These were the notes that I have taken down:

- More clearer instructions needed
- Counters and Pieces need to be bigger and arrows on it need to be more readable
- Board needs to be more flat, so pieces don't slide off
- More events and moves needed
- Dice counld be better made
- Didn't know where the loots would be placed until game started
- Confusion on roads
- Confusion on how to retreat as game said rioters moves clockwise and forwards only
- To outnumber them do you surround them or on top of them
- Not sure what green cards were for
- How to recruit rioters?
- Good events information and interesting facts
- Loots idea is good
- Prison idea and escorting them to prison is good
The second time I played the game was with the actual designers of it. After the explanation given by the main designers, I realised that the game was played differently to how I imagined and played it the first time. During the playing, we brought up a lot of possible flaws, areas of improvements and issues on the structure and how the game works.

I played the game a few more times afterwards with different people to get a variety of opinions on the game as well.

These were the notes taken in our discussion:

- North, East South, West
- Chess inspired
- Leave behind rioters that did not cross a certain point
- Jump on to to arrest rioters
- Points from each piece of loot
- police protects/arrest and riots steal loot/hospitalise police
- Players could hide their cards
- First to 70 points go up in 5's
- Everything has a cost in the game
- Can you move 2 pieces at once to become one? How would they move?
- Legal vheating?
- Retreating (push back 2 spaces - best number)
- Extend board and bonuses
